Posted by Roo - 01/11/07 at 09:11:24 am- Interesting South – Russell’s Interesting conference hits the southern hemisphere: “This conference is not about brands, advertising, blogging or twitter but a wide variety of interesting, unexpected, original things”
- SXSW – organising a panel – “want to ensure that your panel will have some productive disagreement? Then look for a diverse selection of genders, ages and geographical backgrounds when putting together speakers for your panel.” Wow. Surely diversity does not necessarily equate to disagreement.
- Awakenings – Roo Reynolds Talk – write-up of my talk at Awakenings: “He believes that it’s not so much about being totally immersed in a virtual world but more about overlaying the real world with interesting things.”
- SXSW preliminary panel list – Yay for seeing “Stories, Games and Your Brand (Rachel Clarke)”. Hoping to join Rachel, together with Dan Hon and Jeremy Ettinghausen
- Sky News Technology Blog: The Future Of Virtual Worlds – An even-handed overview of VWF by Armin from Sky. Ren and Jerry were missed.
- Virtual World Interoperability: Welcome to the Virtual World Interoperability Wiki Site – “On October 9th, 2007 in San Jose, California, the Virtual Worlds Interoperability Community Summit was held. This featured a gathering of 58 people from 23 different companies and organizations that participated in a wide ranging discussion of the issues
- Monkchips: The rise and rise of the social/digital bridgebuilder – “When Andy Piper from IBM asked for help today with a new strapline it seemed natural to suggest he call himself a bridge-builder.
- Creative Computing @ Coleraine Research Group: Awakenings Serious Games Conference – Summary of last week’s Awakenings Serious Games conference in Derry: “I … was interested to hear his thoughts on universal 3D avatars and portable open ID.”
- At least the chicken kebabs were real – Times Online – “You know you’re at a virtual worlds conference when someone introduces himself as a ‘metaverse evangelist’.” That would be me. Though I think the sentence that follows must have been someone else.
- Palm Beach Post: Blogs link brands, buyers. They’re an effective strategy, if they’re not too corporate – “Roo Reynolds offers up ramblings about his trip to Reykjavik and a friend’s dicey attempt to write a limerick on his personal blog at rooreynolds.com.” – That was fun interview. They didn’t use much of our conversation of course…
- [YouTube] Amiina at Iceland Airwaves 2007 – “Amiina’s closing track at their Saturday evening gig at Frikirkjan in Reykjavik. Four girls, four saws, good times.” That’s me, right at the top of the frame (in red, on the balcony).
- Iceland Airwaves 2007 – a photoset on Flickr – I briefly met Sigrun at Airwaves. She has taken some wonderful photos of the event
