Mainly TV related stuff, for a variety of reasons…
- The History of the Channel 4 logo and idents – All you wanted to know about the “4” logo
- BBC iPlayer FAQ – Will I need a TV licence to watch programmes on BBC iPlayer? – “You do not need a television licence to watch television programmes on the current version of the BBC iPlayer”
- BBC – Employee Guidance – Guidelines for Bloggers – “If you already have a personal blog or website which indicates in any way that you work at the BBC you should tell your manager. If you want to start blogging, and your blog/website will say that you work for the BBC you should tell your manager.” Interesting. IBM’s is even more open, and doesn’t ask you to speak to your manager first.
Plus…
- Digital Photography Review Digital Camera comparison: Canon EOS 40D vs 400D – Canon EOS 40D vs EOS 400D. Very similar features, though of course the 40D (being a metal body) is bigger and heavier. Is it worth paying that much more for the 40? I expect I’ll go for the slightly more portable 400.
If you don’t mind a bit of random advice form a more or less stranger… As always with cameras you need to decide what you personally need. I’d always go for the 40D over the 400D because of things like spot metering, and the shoulder LCD display.
Also worth pointing out that there’s a big trade show in Vegas at the end of January, where Canon will debut new products. Rumours of a 450D which if true will mean that you could either get an even better camera or an even cheaper 400D.
Thanks!

Now that is interesting to know. I’m holding off buying a MacBook Pro until post-Macworld for similar reasons, so it’s good to know the camera equivalent coming quite soon. Cheers.
